NIFAB is not an authorising or supervisory body for CAM (complementary and alternative medicine) therapies or CAM practitioners.
NIFAB is not an industry body for CAM therapists, and does not represent practitioners in any way. Nor does NIFAB process complaints regarding CAM therapists/products.
NIFAB does not lay down laws nor regulations regarding the marketing and/or practice of CAM.
Liability in connection with the presentation of CAM methods and products
The presentation of CAM methods and products or practitioners on NIFAB’s website does not mean that they are endorsed by NIFAB or have been granted any form of official approval by the health authorities.
Since our knowledge, research results and documentation may change, there is no guarantee that the content of the website is always up-to-date and/or exhaustive. NIFAB is not liable for the individual’s choice of treatment, expenses, financial losses incurred or any other consequences that may result.
What questions can NIFAB answer?
When contacted directly, NIFAB will neither provide medical advice nor advice concerning the use of CAM.
NIFAB’s employees are neither authorised health personnel nor CAM practitioners; they are information advisers who endeavour to help the general public with finding reliable information about CAM.
Information from NIFAB is intended to support, not replace the relationship between patient and doctor and/or CAM therapist. Information from NIFAB should therefore be presented to the doctor and/or CAM therapist.
About confidentiality and protection of privacy of website users
NIFAB is bound by and complies with regulations in force at any time concerning confidentiality and privacy protection that apply to health-related information in Norway.
For statistical purposes, NIFAB automatically receives and temporarily stores the following technical information about your visits to the website:
• The time and date of your visit
• The URL of the website you came from
• The IP address that you are using
This information cannot be linked to you personally. NIFAB does not have access to information that can identify you personally when you visit the website, except in cases where you yourself provide this.
Enquiries to NIFAB are primarily answered electronically. You might be ask to give your e-mail address, even if you contact us by electronic questionnaire or telephone. When your inquiry is answered, we will save the questions, timing, and the answer we give you in our records. Your request will be anonymous in that your name and e-mail address is deleted. NIFAB reserves the right to monitor access to our server system, to ensure information security and prevent unauthorised persons from accessing the system.
Limitations of the website’s functionality
NIFAB does not accept any liability for and nor does it guarantee that its own website or any other website to which reference is made is free of viruses or undesirable software content.
NIFAB is not responsible for the accessibility, functionality or content of external websites with links to NIFAB, or to which NIFAB’s website has links.
